Someone once asked me what sort of madman came up with the idea of ‘sold subject to contract’ in property sales - I must admit that the angst it causes people during the course of selling and buying can only be described as massive and one wonders who it can possibly favour save the profession that collects fees whether your sale is aborted or not! The curse of a broken chain when you are attempting to achieve a quick sale is worse than a best selling horror by Stephen King and not only can it seriously jeopardise your purchase, but can cause serious financial hardship as well and in some cases even bring about repossession.
